Birmingham Fastener offers headed bolts in a variety of styles. Two of the most common types of headed bolts are hex head and round head.
Hex Head Bolts
Hex bolts have hexagonal forged heads. Hex head bolts are the industry standard for fasteners with forged heads. Many grades of hex bolts are designed with a larger head size called a heavy hex bolt. Special tooling can be created to produce nonstandard head dimensions or bolt heads with your company's name, log, or headmark. Birmingham Fastener manufactures hex bolts from 1/2" diameter through 2" diameter in most ASTM, AASHTO, and SAE specifications, typically in lengths that are longer than those normally available in the marketplace.

Round Head Bolts
Round head bolts include tension control bolts, carriage bolts, guard rail bolts, and step bolts. Tension control (TC) bolts are pre-assembled fasteners with a rounded head and a splined end that shears off when the nut is properly torqued and the manufacturer's desired torque value is achieved. Birmingham Fastener supplies tension control bolts from 5/8” diameter to 1 1/4” diameter. Guard rail bolts are commonly used for highway barriers and can be produced in galvanized A307 or weathering steel. All of our round head bolts meet ASTM standards.
